Church of the Visitation

A more modern church in Ein Kerem is the Church of the Visitation, named in honour of the visit paid by Mary, the mother of Jesus, to the house of her relative Elizabeth, John the Baptist’s mother. This modern church includes a bell tower and it is decorated with large spectacular frescoes, which depict various scenes from the New Testament. In the yard there are tiles featuring Mary’s Magnificat, one of the most ancient Christian hymns, in 47 different languages.
